ACTION ON PACKAGING
End of Plastic Shrink-Wrap On Our Multipack Cans
Last week we announced that we would end the use of plastic shrink-wrap across all multipacks of cans sold in Great Britain and replace it with cardboard. This means that more than 30 million packs sold to consumers each year will no longer be wrapped in plastic. The packs will transition to cardboard over the next 18 months.

Supporting Step Up Now
Climate change has been rising up the agenda and Glasgow will host the next round of international talks in 2020. We’ve halved Green House Gas emissions since 2010 and moved to 100% renewable electricity. We’ve set science-based carbon reduction targets and we’ll continue to invest to decarbonise our business. We all need to do more though and we have endorsed the Step Up Now initiative – a platform for cities, regions, businesses and investors to support a net-zero goal by 2050 in Europe.

Giving Back to the Communities We Operate In
Our Reach Up programme, in partnership with UK Youth, aims to empower young people furthest from the job market and equip them with the confidence, skills and experience needed to feel ready for the work place. Following a successful pilot in 2018, we have now delivered programmes in Bristol, Stoke, Derby and Glasgow. Almost 100 CCEP colleagues have volunteered to support the programme already this year with six more still to be delivered. Watch an inspiring short film about Reach Up here...

INVESTING IN OUR SUSTAINABLE SUPPLY CHAIN
Over the summer, our East Kilbride factory welcomed First Minister Nicola Sturgeon to mark a £23m investment in the site and the opening of two new state-of-the-art production lines. The new lines use the latest energy-saving technology to reduce energy use and water consumption. In addition, the lines are equipped to package multi-packs using a newly developed lightweight corrugated cardboard that enables the use of thinner card with equal strength to the previous card used. CCEP engineers and apprentices spoke to the First Minister about the importance of investing in innovation and operational advancements for the future of the business.

LIZ LOWE - SUSTAINABILITY MANAGER FOR COCA-COLA GREAT BRITAIN
In collaboration with CCEP and a wider group of subject matter experts across Western Europe, I help set our sustainability strategy and achieve our objectives through relevant local programmes and partnerships. External partners in GB include charities such as WWF, Keep Britain Tidy and StreetGames (recent recipients of this summer’s Premier League on-pack promotion), to social enterprises such as Hubbub. Recently I’ve also worked with our global water stewardship team, focusing on our new 2030 global water and sustainable agriculture strategy as a vital impact area for our business and, of course, the chief ingredient of all our drinks.

Our Sustainability Action Plan
